Listeria proven: manufacturer recalls spread sausage

"As part of our internal company controls, listeria were qualitatively proven in a sample after enrichment," says a customer information that the Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety has published on its portal "lebensmittelwarnung.de".
Purchase price will be refunded
The recall affects goods (item number 008335) that are available from 30.10. until 12.11.2019 was bought from the Naturverbund Müritz and is / was marked with the best before date 29.11.2019. Remnants that have not yet been used can be returned on site, the purchase price will be reimbursed.

Listeria are bacteria that can cause the disease "listeriosis". For pregnant women, the bacteria “pose a particular risk, since the unborn child may be infected with stillbirth, premature birth and newborn listeriosis, or inflammation of the brain and meninges and sepsis (blood poisoning). These forms of disease are fatal in about 30% of cases, ”said the LGL.
According to the office, the minimum dose of infection, i. H. the number of germs that can lead to the disease is unknown and seems to depend on the bacterial strain and the sensitivity of the sick person. It is therefore not advisable to eat contaminated food. (ad)
